Alys Shanti is an Executive Producer and Senior Vice President of Robert Greenwald Productions (“RGP”), initiating, developing and producing theatrical feature films, movies, series, and mini-series for television. Her most recent credits include: BEACH GIRLS, Lifetime’s highest rated series based on Luanne Rice’s bestseller staring Rob Lowe and Julia Ormond, and PLAIN TRUTH staring Mariska Hargitay for Lifetime.
Other credits include: BOOK OF RUTH starring Christine Lahti for CBS, THE CROOKED E, which dramatized the Enron collapse and REDEEMER starring Matthew Modine. Alys' current projects include: A CHRISTMAS WEDDING staring Dean Cain; a miniseries based on Don DeLillo's UNDERWORLD with Michael Cristoffer writing and directing; and BUD AND BILL, a theatrical feature dramatizing the friendship of Timothy McVeigh's father, Bill, and Bud Welch, who lost his daughter in the Oklahoma bombing.
In 2002, in tandem with Robert Greenwald and Earl Katz, Alys established Progressive Pictures – an independent low-budget feature film company that develops projects of a specifically political nature outside of the studio system. Progressive Pictures builds on RGP's previous feature film successes, such as STEAL THIS MOVIE starring Vince D'Onofrio as Abbie Hoffman, and MY DARK PLACES (upcoming) starring David Duchovny in James Ellroy's best-selling autobiography.
Before moving to Los Angeles, Alys was a prolific current affairs producer. She worked in the United Kingdom, for BBC Radio's top-rated current affairs programs, THE WORLD AT ONCE and PM, specializing in Middle Eastern Affairs. During this time, she covered the Gulf War. She also produced two award-winning documentaries for BBC Television's current affairs program, Panorama.
Alys grew up in Europe and the Middle East, and is multi-lingual. Her professional affiliations include BAFTA, where she is a member of the Television Committee.
